GENERAL RULES
→ We ask that members work hard to respect the staff members and follow the rules. Staff work hard to make this site better for everyone and the rules areput in place to keep everyone happy and safe. If you have a problem with a staff member or a rule, please feel free to PM a staff member with your problem. We also ask that staff respect the members as best as possible. Fighting and favoritism are not things that we want to see here, and arguements with members should not happen. Deal with problems in a calm manner and everything should be fine.
→ Swearing is allowed only in minium whyen posting in out-of-character boards, but in the Cbox it is against the rules to swear. This is because it is possible for anyone to see the Cbox, and that means that young children surfing the internet could view our Cbox. Because of that, it is a no-swear zone. Swearing is allowed in in-character boards so that members may express their characters fully. We ask that you keep swearing to a minimum if possible, but it is not a requirement that you only swear when absolutely neccessary. Also, if any swearing is directed towards another member, severe consequences will occur.
→ Fighting between members is something that we want to avoid. It's easy to hurt people and it gives the site a bad reputation when members quit because they were in a fight with another member. Any fighting will be punished if it is discovered, whether it be between two members, a member and a staff member, or two staff members. If anyone does anything to hurt or slander someone else, they could face anything from a fine to temporary banning from the site. No racial or religious discrimination is allowed and any racial or religious slander will result in temporary banning from the site. We want to keep things peaceful between all members.
→ Display names say a lot about yourself. We ask that you do not use names such as "iluvdoggies22" and the like. Display names also say a lot about the site that they are on. Because of this we ask that you chose more professional, nice names. Using the name of one of your characters is better than something like "iluvoggies22".
→ Plagiarism is forbidden here. Any member caught plagiarising in any way will be immediately banned and will be reported to probards. Not only is plagiarism against the law, but it is also harmful to other people. Don't do it.
CHARACTER RULES
→ All characters must be accepted by a staff member before they can be roleplayed. Roleplaying with an unapproved character will result in a fine and in being banned from creating characters for a period of time.
→ We do not want to see Mary-Sue characters on here. That is, we do not want to see overly-cliche characters or characters that are perfect in any way. There should be no characters that are designed so that every other character feels that they must think they are beautiful or feel that they must sympathize with her. We will check for this in biography applications.
→ Only one account is allowed per person, but you can have as many characters as you want on that account, as long as you keep all of those characters active. If one of your characters falls inactive, please make sure that you get rid of them in some way.
→ Domestic canines are the only animals allowed on this site. There are no humans (as of yet) or cats, or horses, or zebras....you get the point. Wild dogs, like wolves, can be bought using Stars, but they are expensive. Wild dog mixes must be bought with Stars and additional coy- or wolf-dogs must be bought with Stars as well.
ROLEPLAYING RULES
→ There is to be no Power-playing, God-modeling, or Meta-gaming while posting in character. Power-playing is controlling someone elses character in one of your posts. God-modeling is when you make your character all-powerful or better than everyone else at something. Meta-gaming is when your character knows some information about another character, like their name, without ever having heard that information before (in other words, magically). None of these will be tolerated and you will be asked to fix your post if caught.
→ This is an intermediate-advanced canine roleplay. We require that you post at least 200 words and ask that you attempt to post 300+ words with each post. If you do not meet the 200 word minimum, you will be asked to fix your post and members will be asked to refrain from replying to your post until it is fixed. There is a word count available so that you can check the size of your posts.
→ We ask that you use proper spelling and grammar while posting on Ascendancy. Proboards provides a spell-check and Microsoft Word has a spelling and grammar check that you can use to check your posts. We won't ban you because of spelling errors, but it makes posts easier to read if you use the right grammar and spelling and it makes people more likely to respond. We may ask you to fix something if it has too many spelling and grammar errors.
→ A character may be in up to four threads at one time. However, if the character is already in four threads and there is a pack meeting that you need to respond to, that character may still respond to the meeting. Pack meetings and designated plot threads do not count towards the four threads. Pack Leaders may be in as many threads as they want to be in. There is no limit for them.
→ If a thread is intended to be private, then please state that it is in the title somewhere. If there is nothing in the title then it is assumed to be open to everyone.
PACKS
→ Leaders create their own pack rules and hierarchy, so there is no set rules or ranks for all of the packs. Leaders also determine how you can join their pack (i.e. you can either register in a thread or make a joining post or b]oth). Pack leaders are allowed to punish their members in any way that they chose. However, they may not injure or kill or rape a character without the player's permission.
→ A new leader is given one month of immunity. That is one season in the game or about thirty real life days. Once their immunity expires then they can be challenged by any other dog. Please obtain administrator permission before making a challenge, however.
FIGHTING RULES
→ When a fight is about to start a staff member needs to be contacted immediatelly before any more attacks or dodges are made. We ask that when you contact a staff member a link to the thread and a list of all the characters involved in the fight are included in the PM. If the fight is over leadership of a pack, please make sure that you contact the main administrator.
→ Winners are determined by post quality, fighting style, severity of injuries, length of posts, and the amount of dodges used. Staff are asked not to judge based on sex, age, known skill of the fighters, or favoritism.
→ In a fight, each character can have up to seven attacks and two dodges. You may chose to use less than seven attacks at the beginning of a fight. One attack is one post in the thread, and one dodge is the same way. You can dodge and attack in the same post. Consider half-dodges as an alternative to dodges. A half-dodge is when you are attacked but the attack either misses it's mark and hits somewhere else or isn't as severe as intended. In a half-dodge you still get injured but you aren't using one of your dodges.
→ At the end of the fight the chosen judge will announce the winner, give tips to each of the participants, and tell why they made their decision. They will also make sure that each participant is aware of what injuries their dog received during the fight. The only way that your character can die in the fight is if you want it to.
BREEDING RULES
→ There is no set breeding season. A female can breed whenever she wants, but she can only breed twice a year. You decide. But whatever season your female breeds in is the season that she must breed in every year. So if your female breeds in spring, then she will breed in spring every single year. Also, females can only breed every other season. So, if your female does breed in spring then she cannot breed again until autumn.
→ Graphic breeding is not allowed on this site. Not only does it violate the Proboards TOS, it is disgusting. During the breeding part of a post, please black out before you get to the questionable parts. If you really must roleplay the graphic part, please do it over PMs.
→ A female will give birth ten real-life days after breeding, though you do not have to be exact. This is about one month in game time, which is shorter than the normal gestation period for a dog. Still, we don't want to make you wait almost a month to have the puppies. Puppies age quicker than normal when they are born, and are able to leave their mother two weeks after they are born, which is a little less than two months in game time.
→ When breeding has occured, please post an announcement using the provided forms in the pup announcement board so that a staff member can decide the litter.
→ A full biography is not required for a puppy born on the site, but we do ask that you create a simple biography using a provided form so that we have a record of each puppy.
→ The amount of puppies will be determined by the female's breed. The average size of a litter for that breed will be looked up and the puppies will be calculated based on that. You may get fewer or more puppies than the average; everything will be based on a roll of die. The staff who wish to decide a litter need to talk with Anyu about how to determine stats using dice.
SEASONS
→ There are four seasons in the year, each one being one month, or about 30 days, long.
→ Please attempt to keep track of your dog's age. If your dog was created at age six and twelve years pass by, you may be asked to have your character die from old age.
→ Keep in mind that puppies born on the site will age a little faster than dogs that are created on the site. A puppy will turn a year old two weeks after it has been born, even if a year has not passed since it was born.
